About us

BFI NETWORK exists to support, develop and champion new filmmakers looking to kick-start their career.

Made possible through National Lottery funding, we collaborate with film organisations and leading cultural venues across the UK to provide short film and early feature development funding, industry-backed professional development and networking support to producers, writers and directors of all ages.

Meet the team

James Weddup - Head of BFI NETWORK (Interim)

James is the interim Head of BFI NETWORK, steering the project into 2022. He has been at the BFI for six years, managing NETWORK projects and partnerships and working with the Talent Executives across the UK. He also has a focus on the Film Fund’s documentary partnerships and other BFI funds through his work in the Operations, Partners and Projects team. His favourite things about NETWORK are the short films that – just when you think you’ve seen it all – startle you out of complacency and show you something brand new, a voice that stays ringing in your ears for days to come, whether you like it or not!

Caragh Davison - BFI NETWORK Talent Programme Manager

Caragh works across BFI NETWORK’s UK-wide activity with a focus on designing our flagship talent development programmes such as NETWORK@LFF and NETWORK Weekender, as well as overseeing NETWORK's festival attendance and supporting the delivery of our partner work with BAFTA, British Council and BIFA among others. Her mission is to burst the industry bubble and throw the doors open to new filmmakers from all walks of life.

Ambika Sidhu - BFI NETWORK Coordinator

Ambika runs the BFI NETWORK website, social media and helps coordinate NETWORK events. She has a background in film production and brings first hand experience of the industry, allowing her an insider perspective of the many challenges faced by an upcoming filmmaker. She believes there is room for further support and guidance, particularly for new and diverse voices. Ambika aims to help shine a light on exciting talent from underrepresented ethnic backgrounds.
