2 November 2020

On Wednesday 18 November at 7PM (London), we’ll be bringing you a webinar from BFI NETWORK and Film Hub Midlands, to discuss the new initiative, the Mother Tongues Award. Find out more from the team behind this new development initiative, set up by Ardimages UK and Shudder Films (GOD'S OWN COUNTRY) with the support of Curzon and Charades.

The Mother Tongues Award is aimed at feature film projects at treatment or script stage submitted by UK-based filmmakers in which the dialogue WILL BE in a language other than English. It is open to any filmmakers who have a connection to a language other than English and want to develop a story that will be told in that language.

The call for projects will be open 1 November - 1 December 2020 via the Mother Tongues website and the winning films will be announced by April 2021. At least one development award of £10,000 will be made. Producer development support will also be offered to the chosen projects with the aim of moving them into production.
